No one’s quite sure how he pulled it off, but Josh Rock produced one of the most bizarre 180s ever seen during his Premier League showdown with Michael van Gerwen.

Rock, who sits bottom of the table on eight points, exited at the quarter-final stage for the first time in five weeks on Thursday night, falling 6–3 to Van Gerwen. The 25-year-old posted a modest 91.89 average at the M&S Bank Arena, despite showing flashes of quality throughout the contest.

At one point, the Northern Irishman was six darts into a potential nine-darter, yet still lost the leg. But it was his sixth dart that left everyone stunned.

Rock fired at the board and initially found the single 20. Then, in a moment that defied logic, the dart bounced out and somehow redirected into the treble 20.

On commentary, Wayne Mardle could barely believe it. “OH, OHHH!” he shouted, as Rock raised his hands in apology for the outrageous slice of luck. “I’ve never seen anything like it!”

Fans online were just as baffled. One wrote: “I’ve watched this 20 times and still don’t understand it. Insane.” Another added: “That’s the craziest 180 I’ve ever seen.” Others called it “mental” and even “witchcraft.”

Van Gerwen, who averaged 98.64, advanced to face Luke Littler in the semi-finals. Still, Rock’s freak moment completely stole the spotlight.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Rock has grabbed headlines this season. Back in February, he delivered one of the finest nine-darters in recent memory on Night Four of the Premier League in Belfast.

Facing Gian van Veen, Rock struggled early and trailed 5–1. But in leg seven, everything clicked. Six perfect darts left him on 141, and he coolly followed up with treble 20, treble 19, and double 12 to seal perfection.

The Belfast crowd erupted instantly, and Rock sprinted to the front of the stage before launching himself into the air in celebration.
