LUKE LITTLER has revealed the secret strategy he and Luke Humphries have devised as they bid to finally bring the World Cup of Darts title back to England.

The world’s top two players will head to Frankfurt as overwhelming favourites for the tournament, which takes place from June 11-14.

However, both men remain determined to erase the disappointment of last year’s campaign, when England suffered a shock second-round defeat to hosts Germany in their first tournament together as a pairing.

The World Cup and European Championship are the only major titles missing from Littler’s growing collection, making them two of his biggest goals for the season.

Following their thrilling Premier League final showdown at London’s O2 Arena, where Littler edged Humphries 11-10 to lift the title, the pair discussed how they could maximise their strengths in England colours.

Littler is renowned for his heavy scoring and ability to fill the treble 20 bed, while Humphries is widely regarded as one of the most clinical finishers in the sport under pressure.

Speaking about the unique doubles format used at the World Cup, Littler joked: “When we go to the World Cup, I’ll let Luke finish and I’ll just do all the scoring.”

The pair have developed a strong friendship away from the oche, and Humphries was among the first to comfort the teenage sensation after he became emotional following his Premier League triumph.

Reflecting on England’s chances this year, Littler said: “It is whatever happens on the day, especially at the World Cup.

“Last year, it wasn’t the easiest draw for me and Luke. We were huge favourites going into it.

“I am sure we will bounce back.”

While Littler has dominated the sport’s biggest televised events this season, he has made only limited appearances on the ProTour circuit, preferring to focus on major tournaments and exhibition events.

His absence from floor tournaments could put his place at the Players Championship Finals in doubt. The reigning champion lifted that title at Butlin’s Minehead last November, but only the top 64 players on the ProTour Order of Merit qualify for the event.

Despite having the talent to secure qualification, Littler would need to participate in more Players Championship events to guarantee his spot.

The world No.1 has already captured the first four televised major titles of 2026 and could soon find himself chasing an unprecedented clean sweep of all 11 televised majors.

Should England win the World Cup and Littler add the European Championship to his collection, he admits a return to Minehead could become impossible to resist.

He said: “Obviously I’ve won every one so far.

“If me and Luke do pick up the World Cup and if I do pick up the Europeans, then yeah I might have to go to Minehead to try and win them all.

“But we’ll have to see.”
