Luke Littler has dismissed bizarre social media claims that he was involved in a shopping centre altercation after a viral video falsely identified him as one of the people featured.

The darts superstar took to social media on Tuesday evening after a clip circulating online claimed he had been targeted by a group of travellers while out with his girlfriend and family.

Littler, 19, has found himself in the spotlight throughout recent months, particularly after responding to crowd taunts during tournaments. The pressure of constant scrutiny was highlighted last week when the world champion became emotional following his Premier League Darts triumph.

However, there has never been any indication of tensions with fans extending beyond the arena environment.

Despite that, a video that gained significant traction on social media alleged that the two-time world champion had been involved in a confrontation at a shopping centre.

The clip, which was viewed close to one million times on X before being removed, was shared by an account claiming the teenager had been singled out while shopping.

Littler quickly moved to shut down the rumours.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Can see this has nearly a million views on X.

“Just to clear it all up, it’s definitely not me.”

The original post was subsequently deleted, although similar videos continued to circulate across social media platforms.

One version of the footage, believed to have been filmed at St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff several years ago, also falsely suggested Littler had been involved in a fight.

Closer inspection of the footage makes it clear that none of the individuals featured are the reigning world champion.

It is understood the incident shown in the video actually took place around five years ago before recently resurfacing on X, TikTok and Facebook, where misleading captions linked it to Littler.

The circumstances surrounding the original altercation remain unclear.

After quickly debunking the rumours, Littler can now focus on returning to action on the darts stage.

The world No.1 is set to make his next appearance at the Nordic Darts Masters, which gets underway on June 5 as he continues another remarkable season.
