Luke Littler reveals plans to buy ANOTHER race horse after investment with Michael Owen and Stephen Bunting

Luke Littler believes stepping into racehorse ownership alongside Stephen Bunting and Michael Owen is “worth a punt” — and if it pays off, he’s already thinking about expanding the venture.

However, one thing he’s ruled out? Naming a future horse after his famous nickname, “The Nuke.” In his view, that would be “too boring.”

The trio have joined forces to purchase a two-year-old colt named Bunting Mental for £54,000. The horse is currently being trained in Cheshire by Hugo Palmer and is expected to make its racing debut this summer.

The name “Bunting Mental” is a nod to Bunting’s popular social media catchphrase, and the jockey will sport the same purple-and-yellow colours seen on Littler’s darts shirt.

Littler, just 19, recently immersed himself in the racing world, spending three days at the Cheltenham Festival in March — an experience that clearly left its mark.

“Leading up to Cheltenham, I was really into horse racing,” he said. “Even last year at the Grand National, me and my girlfriend Faith backed Nick Rockett at 33-1. That was some race to watch.”

The idea for ownership actually began earlier in the year during a trip to Saudi Arabia, when Owen reached out to Bunting about getting involved. Littler didn’t hesitate.

“I thought, yeah — worth a punt,” he said. “Put a bit of money into it.”

Despite his growing passion, Littler has no plans to swap darts for early mornings in the saddle. For now, he’s sticking firmly to ownership — though fans might start spotting him more often at racecourses across the UK.

The teenage sensation, who has earned over £3 million since his breakthrough at the PDC World Darts Championship, continues to balance his rapid rise in darts with new ventures off the oche.

Trainer Palmer is optimistic about the horse’s potential. “They haven’t visited the yard yet — they’ve been busy with the Premier League,” he said. “Stephen’s a big racing fan, and everyone saw how much Luke enjoyed Cheltenham.

“He’s an extraordinary talent with a massive following, so it’s great to see someone from the next generation getting involved in racing.

“We’re really pleased with the horse so far. He should be ready to run in a couple of months.”
