‘Nothing’s really working’ – Luke Littler sends message to boo boys after three straight Premier League Darts triumphs
Luke Littler believes he now holds a psychological advantage over both Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries after a series of crucial victories against the pair.
The world champion has now defeated Van Gerwen in each of their last five meetings and has beaten Humphries four matches in a row, including two tense last-leg wins in Leeds.
Littler continued his incredible form by securing his SIXTH Premier League nightly victory of the season, strengthening his bid to break his own record in the competition.
The teenage star admitted he feels his rivals may already be under pressure before a deciding leg even begins.
He said: “Beating them so many times in last-leg deciders definitely helps me mentally.
“They could be thinking, ‘Here we go again, it’s another deciding leg against Luke Littler.’
“I might already have an edge before the leg even starts. Ever since my JDC days, I’ve always believed in myself, especially in deciding legs, and I think I handle those moments really well.
“Whether you beat someone comfortably or in a last leg, those matches stay in your mind.
“My record with Gezzy is still pretty even, and me and Luke beat each other regularly, same with me and Michael.
“But if I keep winning week after week, it gives me more confidence. Then the next time they play me, they know they’ll need to raise their level even more.”
Littler also laughed off the hostile receptions he has received from some crowds in recent months and joked fans may eventually tire of booing him.
The Warrington wonderkid faced a heated atmosphere during Night Nine in Manchester after his fiery clash with Gian van Veen, where sections of the crowd jeered him throughout the night.
He said: “I think it’s always going to happen, so all I can do is keep winning.
“Eventually maybe people will get bored of it because it doesn’t really affect me. Ever since Rotterdam, even tonight there were a few boos, but nothing will top that experience.
“I feel like I can deal with anything now.”
Littler remains comfortably top of the Premier League table, sitting five points clear of nearest challenger Jonny Clayton, and he has already booked his place at Finals Night at The O2.
