- Coco Gauff revealed she relaxed after the Olympics by watching Love Island with her little brother.
- Spending days doing nothing in bed provided a much-needed restart for Coco.
- Coco also prioritizes her mental health by focusing on self-care techniques that boost her confidence.
Coco Gauff deserved (and, quite frankly, needed) some downtime after the Olympics. She’s only 20 and is already under so much pressure, so once she got home from Paris, she decided to spend some time doing nothing.
Coco has a lot of techniques when it comes to self-care, and part of that includes watching reality TV while she rots for two days straight.
Coco Gauff Relaxed After The Olympics Watching Love Island
“I just literally like to do nothing,” she said. “Like after the Olympics,” she added, saying that once she got back, she spent two days at home with her little brother Cameron watching reality TV.
“Sunday, we literally just stayed at home and just did nothing. Just watched Love Island together,” Coco said, and then reflected, laughing, “Which, I don’t know if I should watch Love Island with my 11-year-old brother, but he has older siblings, so I feel like that’s just kind of how it goes.”
Of course, after she mentioned Love Island, they had to ask her opinion on the islanders and who she liked best.
Coco said she “liked” Kaylor, but admitted that “she did cry a lot.” She also said that, while she knows “a lot of people don’t like the Casa girls,” she supports them. “I mean, it kind of sucks to go on the show like that, but I feel like they handled it really well.”
For her, spending time with family just watching reality TV is a form of self-care.
How Coco Takes Care Of Herself
For Coco, those days she spent just watching Love Island with Cameron “just felt like such a restart,” and amid her incredibly busy and stressful career, it was a way to take care of herself.
“I sometimes feel like even the self-care can just feel like too much work,” she explained. “I just want to just do nothing and just sit and just rot, literally. So those were the best days, honestly, especially when you’ve been busy, and having someone to do it with was nice.”
Coco is very mindful of her mental health. She has to be when competing at such a high level. Right before the Olympics, she shared some of the things she does to keep her mental health and confidence in check.
“When I look good, I feel good. I just got my hair and nails done yesterday, and I swear it makes you feel like a different person. I always try to start a new swing with a fresh hairstyle,” she said to Elite Daily shortly before the Olympics. “I also love to walk around the cities I’m in and just people-watch. If there’s a garden nearby, a park, I like to just be in nature and be outside. I feel like it makes you happier.”
Coco revealed she has “been trying to meditate more. Sometimes I’m impatient, so it’s hard for me to sit still. But I am trying to learn to ground myself and take deep breaths and just stay in the moment because I tend to just go all the time.”
Coco seems to have all bases covered when it comes to self-care. She knows when to indulge in rotting and watching TV for hours, when to be mindful and ground herself, and when she needs a confidence boost.
