Humphries lifted the trophy in 2023 after beating Gerwyn Price, but fell short in the following two finals against Mike De Decker in 2024 and Luke Littler in 2025.

The door is open for Cool Hand to go all the way again this year after both Littler and Michael van Gerwen were knocked out in the opening round at the Mattioli Arena.

Humphries now faces Jermaine Wattimena in the second round, with plenty of fans also wondering about the mark on his forehead.

Why does Luke Humphries have a scar on his forehead?

Humphries explained the mystery behind the scar after his first-round victory over Dave Chisnall.

The darts star admitted he wished he had a more dramatic explanation, joking that he would have preferred to claim he had fought off several people.

Instead, Humphries believes the mark was caused by an allergic reaction.

He explained that he took part in filming for Bullseye on Tuesday and woke up the following morning with a large rash on the side of his head.

The irritation continued to get worse before eventually scabbing over.

Humphries suspects the reaction may have been triggered by the make-up, creams or other products used during the television filming.

He said: “I really wanted to bring up some amazing story about how I fought five guys off, they came off worse than me.

“Unfortunately I don’t have that great story. I did Bullseye filming on Tuesday, woke up Wednesday with a massive rash on the side of my head and it just got worse and worse and then it scabbed over.

“The only thing I can think of is when you do TV shows they put make-up on and all these types of things, all these creams.

“I got an allergic reaction to it. Unfortunately there is no great story to tell, that is what I think it is but I don’t know.”

Humphries also revealed that he had not seen a doctor about the issue but insisted that he was feeling completely fine.

He added: “I’m fully well. I have just got that on my head.

“I would have loved to have told you a great story about headbutting ten people. But unfortunately I haven’t.”

Fortunately for the world No.2, the scar has not affected his performance and he is continuing to compete as normal at the World Grand Prix.
