GERWYN PRICE has revealed the unusual superstitions he follows to keep the “demons” out of his head during tournaments.

The world No.4 is still chasing his first ranked major title since winning the Grand Slam of Darts in 2021.

However, Price, 41, has enjoyed an impressive 2026 campaign, reaching the semi-finals of every major tournament this year except the World Championship.

The Welshman continued his latest title challenge with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Ross Smith to book his place in the World Grand Prix quarter-finals in Leicester.

Price has been travelling back home to Markham between matches while sticking rigidly to a routine he believes helps him stay focused.

He admitted his superstitious habits can even involve wearing the same shirt throughout a tournament.

Price said: “I’m superstitious. When I do one thing once, I have to do it again.

“I sit in the same chair, at the same table, all the way through the tournament.

“And as smelly as it sounds, I don’t change my top. Not very often, anyway!

“I’ll do exactly what I need to do to keep the demons out of my head.”

Several big names have already crashed out of the tournament, including 14-time major winner Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen.

Jonny Clayton also secured his place in the last eight after beating Wessel Nijman.

But Price insists the early exits of some of the tournament favourites have not changed his approach.

He said: “I don’t care about other players. Obviously Luke’s a brilliant player, both Lukes. Three Lukes.

“There are so many good players left in this. Jonny played brilliantly, took his chances and took some big shots out to beat Wes, who’s been playing brilliantly in the floor tournaments.

“Regardless of Luke being out or Michael being out, it’s still a tough tournament to win.

“I’ll just concentrate, step by step, on my own game.”

Price will return to action on Friday when he takes on Jonny Clayton in the World Grand Prix quarter-finals at the Mattioli Arena.

The winner will advance to the semi-finals as Price continues his bid for another major title.
