During the latest episode of the ‘Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast,’ Caitlin Thompson praised the all-purple theme for both finalists, emphasizing that Coco Gauff‘s outfit was the best she had witnessed from the American.

“I love that the finalists wore purple. Coco’s New Balance kit was the best I’ve seen her in,” Thompson said.

Rennae Stubbs contended that the World No. 3’s kits were consistently good, a sentiment echoed by fans throughout the season.

However, Thompson argued that Gauff was often dressed in “extremely tight” and “very revealing” clothes. While she conceded that those looks were never unflattering on the 20-year-old, Thompson expressed her belief that her attire in Riyadh was perfect in comparison.

“But her stuff is so good,” Stubbs argued.

“Her stuff is often good but a lot of times they put her in extremely tight and very revealing clothes. This one I felt like was quite… She’s got an insane physique so it’s not like anything’s going to be unflattering on her, but this one for me just was 10/10,” Thompson said.

Caitlin Thompson also expressed her appreciation for Zheng Qinwen’s “sass” on the podium after the final, highlighting how the Chinese was posing for the camera. Meanwhile, Thompson and Stubbs both agreed that Zheng was frustrated by her loss, as evidenced by her “frosty” handshake for Coco Gauff.

“Then I really loved Qinwen’s sass on the podium. I don’t know if you saw but she was giving a lot of, ‘I’m on Vogue China’s cover right now.’ And it didn’t look like she was that pleased with the loss,” Thompson said.

“No she was pissed. Did you see the handshake?” Stubbs questioned.

“Yeah, frosty,” Thompson replied.

Coco Gauff also cut an elegant figure for the official photoshoot at the 2024 WTA Finals before her campaign, donning a stunning full-length purple gown from Saudi designer Yousef Akbar.

Speaking in her pre-tournament press conference, the 20-year-old opened up about her decision to spotlight a local designer, highlighting Akbar’s work with stars like Beyonce and being featured in Vogue Arabia.

“Yeah, I thought it would be cool to first just highlight a designer from here. His name is Yousef Akbar. He’s won an award. I think the dress is featured on the cover of Vogue Arabia. He’s dressed Beyonce and all these crazy celebrities,” Coco Gauff said.

Gauff gushed over the chic dress and expressed her delight at how she looked in the pictures, asserting that Arab designers were unparalleled in the art of draping gowns.

“For me, it’s really important to highlight that. I’m happy with how the photos turned out. The dress looked great on me. I think also Arab designers do the gowns and draping the best, to be honest,” she added.

Coco Gauff has returned home to Florida after her triumph at the WTA Finals, commencing her off-season by enjoying a “seafood date” with her grandmother.
