Luke Littler withdraws from two darts events less than 24 hours after missing out on PDC clean sweep

LUKE LITTLER has pulled out of two darts events just days after suffering defeat at the World Series Finals.

The Nuke was knocked out by Jonny Clayton on Sunday, losing 10-4 in the quarter-finals in Amsterdam.

The result ended Littler’s hopes of completing a clean sweep of the PDC’s major titles this season.

The 19-year-old had won the first six major events of the campaign and had looked almost unstoppable before Clayton brought his incredible run to an end.

Littler was due to return to action at Players Championship 29 and 30 in Den Bosch, Holland, this week.

However, the world No1 has now withdrawn from both events.

The decision is set to effectively end his hopes of qualifying for the Players Championship Finals in Minehead in November.

Littler currently sits 125th on the Players Championship Order of Merit and is £16,750 behind the final qualification position in the top 64.

His withdrawal comes just days after the teenage star threatened to boycott tournaments in Holland following a hostile reception from sections of the crowd.

Littler was repeatedly booed and whistled during the World Series Finals, including during his first-round clash with Dutch favourite Danny Noppert.

The Warrington thrower has previously spoken out about the treatment he received from German fans and warned that he could stop playing Euro Tour events in the Netherlands if the situation continued.

Littler said: “With the Germans, I haven’t been for a long time.

“We will have to see in Dortmund whether it changes or stays the same.

“If the Dutch stay like this, then I’m not going to do any Euro Tours over there.

“There’s just no point in me travelling, wasting my time while I’m getting booed. I just want to play my darts, obviously sign autographs.

“The past two nights, I’ve done nothing. I’ve just walked off stage without thanking anybody.

“There’s no point thanking everyone when they are booing me.”
