Coco Gauff on bringing a touch of superhero through her outfit at the Australian Open: “You have to sacrifice for fashion”
Coco Gauff, the 20-year-old American tennis star, continues to blend her love for fashion with her athletic career, especially at the 2025 Australian Open in Melbourne. This time, Gauff stunned fans with a backless bodysuit inspired by her passion for superheroes.
“I’m a huge Marvel fan, and many of the female superheroes have cool cutouts on their outfits, so that’s what I wanted to do,” the third-seeded player shared on social media. While the bodysuit exudes superhero vibes, it hasn’t come without its challenges.
“It’s actually kind of a pain to get into,” Gauff laughed. “Because it is a bodysuit, I have to put the bottom part on first and then pull it over my head. It’s kind of a struggle. And if you can’t hold your bladder, it’s also not a good idea, but you have to sacrifice for fashion.”
Despite the inconvenience, Gauff’s outfit wasn’t the only eye-catching detail. She also paid homage to her father’s love for basketball with her shoes. “My shoes are inspired by basketball shoes because that’s the sport my dad wanted me to play, but I’m glad I chose tennis,” she said, mixing her family’s passion with her own tennis journey.
As Gauff continues to dominate on the court, she’s not just making a statement with her game, but with her bold, fashion-forward choices as well.
