This is what Badosa needs to come out of the 2025 Australian Open as a top-10 player in the WTA rankings
Paula Badosa is on the verge of achieving one of her primary goals for the season: returning to the top 10 of the WTA rankings. The Spaniard firmly believes that, when she is in good mental and physical condition, she belongs in this elite group. However, she is fully aware of the challenges involved in reaching—and more importantly—maintaining a position among the top 10.
In the WTA rankings update on Monday, January 27th, Badosa has a strong chance of breaking back into the top 10. If she advances to the semifinals, only Madison Keys reaching the final or winning the tournament could keep her out. Should Badosa lose in the quarterfinals to Coco Gauff, she would need Gauff not to make it to the semifinals and for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova not to win the title in order to reclaim her top-10 spot.
