Emma Raducanu Reunites With Former Coach Mark Petchey
British tennis star Emma Raducanu has reportedly reunited with her former coach, Mark Petchey, according to journalist James Gray. Petchey, who previously worked with Raducanu before her historic 2021 US Open victory, was recently spotted on court with her again.
Raducanu’s latest coaching change comes after a brief two-week partnership with Vladimir Platenik, which ended due to differences in direction, as she explained in a statement.
A Familiar Face Returns
Petchey, who has also worked with Great Britain’s LTA, was seen in Raducanu’s box during her second-round match against eighth seed Emma Navarro. The 21-year-old secured an impressive win over Navarro—her first top-10 victory on hard courts—after defeating Sayaka Ishii in the previous round.
Since her breakthrough title at Flushing Meadows in 2021, Raducanu has gone through eight different coaches. Now, she has opted to work again with Petchey, though it remains uncertain whether this will be a long-term collaboration.
Preparing for the Next Challenge
Despite his commitments with Tennis Channel this week, Petchey has managed to fit in training sessions with Raducanu as she prepares for her next match. The current world No. 60 will face American McCartney Kessler on Sunday, marking their first-ever encounter.
Fans will be eager to see whether this coaching reunion can help Raducanu regain her top form.
