Rafael Nadal Backs Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner as Tennis’ Future Stars
Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has openly endorsed Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner as the two players leading the new era of men’s tennis. The 22-time Grand Slam champion, who retired in November 2024, believes these rising stars will shape the future of the sport.
“Clearly, there are two players who stand above the rest: Carlos and Jannik,” Nadal stated at a Movistar Plus event. “We were three—Federer, Djokovic, and I—for so many years, pushing each other to new heights. Now, the next generation will strive to surpass us.”
With Novak Djokovic approaching 38 and his career winding down, Alcaraz and Sinner have already begun their dominance. The duo shared the four Grand Slam titles in 2024, with Sinner winning the 2025 Australian Open and Alcaraz eyeing another French Open victory.
Despite their early success, Alcaraz remains humble about the challenge ahead:
“We’ve been lucky to witness the Federer-Nadal-Djokovic era. They were players from another planet. If we can’t reach their level, it may feel disappointing for tennis fans.”
As the torch passes, all eyes are on Alcaraz and Sinner to continue the sport’s legacy.
