Emma Raducanu Sends Classy Message to Amanda Anisimova After Miami Open Victory
Emma Raducanu delivered a dominant performance at the Miami Open, securing a straight-sets win (6-1, 6-3) over Amanda Anisimova to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event for the first time.
The 22-year-old Brit was in complete control, showcasing a strong service game, while Anisimova struggled with a finger injury. The American took a medical timeout between sets, having shared images of the injury on social media before the match.
Despite her dominant win, Raducanu showed sportsmanship in her post-match comments, telling Sky Sports:
“Playing Amanda is never easy. She’s had some amazing wins, top 20, and won a Masters this year. She’s playing great tennis, and I hope her wrist, or something, is OK.”
Meanwhile, Sky Sports commentator Annabel Croft noted Anisimova’s struggles, saying:
“Anisimova is absolutely rattled. Her service game… I’m not sure Emma has even lost a point, has she?”
Raducanu also reflected on the quick turnaround between matches, adding:
“It was really difficult. Amanda finished even later than I did. By the time you get back, it’s 11, and you can’t sleep straight away. But I was happy with how I bounced back physically.”
Looking ahead, Raducanu will face either Marta Kostyuk or Jessica Pegula in the next round as she continues her impressive Miami Open run.
