Novak Djokovic Shares a Moment with Serena Williams Mid-Match at Miami Open
Novak Djokovic had an unexpected interaction with Serena Williams during his Miami Open round-of-16 match against Lorenzo Musetti. The Serbian star was unaware that Williams was in attendance until he spotted her courtside.
During the match, after hitting an impressive passing shot, Djokovic turned to Williams and asked for her approval. Her simple response? “Yeah, it was fine.” Reflecting on the moment, Djokovic admitted he was “starstruck” seeing the 23-time Grand Slam champion watching his match.
Djokovic, who secured a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Musetti, was also supported by former rival Juan Martin del Potro and his new coach, Andy Murray. Speaking after the match, he expressed gratitude for having such tennis legends in his corner.
βIt was amazing to see Delpo, a long-time friend and rival, supporting me from the box,” Djokovic said. “And Serena being there was a total surprise. If she says my shot was fine, then it must have been great!”
Djokovic will now face Sebastian Korda in the quarter-finals, aiming to continue his strong run in Miami.
