The PDC has confirmed a major boost in prize money for the upcoming World Darts Championship, offering players the highest earnings in the sport’s history.

Historic Prize Money Boost

Luke Littler, the reigning champion, will now compete for a staggering £1 million prize in the 2026 World Darts Championship—double the amount he won in 2025. The tournament’s total prize fund has also increased to £5 million, with an expanded 128-player field.

Across all PDC events in 2026, more than £25 million in prize money will be available, marking a record-breaking £7 million increase from the previous year.

Expanded Prize Pools Across PDC Tournaments

The prize money hike extends beyond the World Championship. The Premier League champion will earn £350,000 from a £1.25 million total prize pot, while other major tournaments—including the World Grand Prix, Players Championship Finals, European Championship, and UK Open—will see their prize funds rise to £750,000 each.

PDC’s Commitment to Growth

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter highlighted the sport’s rapid expansion:

“The £1 million prize for the world champion reflects darts’ status as one of the most exciting and in-demand sports worldwide. Our increased prize funds demonstrate a commitment to growing earning potential for players at all levels.”

The Grand Slam of Darts will also see an expanded player field, offering more opportunities for players worldwide to compete on televised stages.

Ahead of the official announcement, Littler had hinted at a possible increase in prize money, calling it a natural step forward for the sport.

“It’s been £500,000 for years. This is the next big step for us players.”
