Coco Gauff Sends Heartfelt Message to UConn Stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd After NCAA Championship Win
Tennis star Coco Gauff sent a warm congratulatory message to UConn basketball standouts Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd after they led the Huskies to victory in the NCAA women’s basketball championship.
Gauff shared a message on her Instagram story, writing:
“Unbelievable @paigebueckers @azzi35 congratulations.”
The reigning US Open champion has a friendly connection with both players and reflected on their support during one of her key matches last year.
“Yeah, Paige and Azzi, I’ve known them on social media for a while,” Gauff said in a past interview. “They’re obviously very good at what they do in basketball at UConn, so I knew they were coming [to the US Open] and I finally got to meet them in person after the match.”
The two basketball stars were seen cheering Gauff on from her player’s box during her third-round match at the 2024 US Open. “They were sitting in my box, it was really cool. I think I got some good vibes from them to help get me through,” she added. “I saw both of them standing up, getting out of their seats… It was great to have that support.”
Gauff also expressed her desire to return the favor one day:
“Hopefully I can return the favor at one of their games.”
