Djokovic, who was defeated in the second round by Alejandro Tabilo, has now failed to reach the latter stages of the tournament for several years. His most recent performance has left fans questioning whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion is at the end of his career.

“Novak needs to rethink about retirement,” one fan tweeted, echoing the thoughts of many in the tennis community.

Others pointed out that Djokovic’s form in Monte-Carlo has been inconsistent, particularly since his title win a decade ago:

“Not even surprised tbh. Novak hasn’t played well here since he won the title a decade ago,” one fan noted.

A few fans expressed their frustration, calling Djokovic’s loss a sign that he’s no longer at his peak:

“Novak is finished,” another fan bluntly stated.

There were also comments about the Serbian’s health, with many attributing his recent struggles to ongoing injuries, particularly an eye infection:

“This is sad to see, but Novak isn’t 100%. He needs to rest and take care of himself,” one fan commented.

Despite this setback, Djokovic’s career record at Monte-Carlo is still impressive, with an 11-9 win-loss record since his 2015 title. As the clay-court season progresses, it remains to be seen whether Djokovic can regain his form in time for the French Open.
