Gerwyn Price is preparing to step into a different sporting arena as he lines up a notable appearance away from darts.

The 41-year-old, currently ranked world No.7 after an impressive 12-year career on the oche, is set to feature in the 2026 UK Open Pool Championship.

Known as “The Iceman,” Price already has some experience in the sport, having taken part in an exhibition Pro-Am event at the Alexandra Palace during last year’s Mosconi Cup. This time, however, he will be competing on a much bigger stage.

The five-day tournament begins on May 25 at the Brentwood Centre.

Price will be joined by Andy Goldstein, the talkSPORT host who has also confirmed his participation.

They will be part of a 256-player field, including 128 professionals representing more than 50 countries.

The UK Open has been billed as a “truly open” event, with amateur players also given the chance to compete. A junior competition will run alongside it, featuring participants as young as seven.

A total prize fund of £167,500 is up for grabs.

Last year’s title was claimed by Aloysius Yapp, who beat Jonas Souto 13-1 in the final in Telford.

This isn’t the first time Price has switched sporting focus. Back in 2014, he made the move from rugby to darts, having previously played rugby league in both Wales and Scotland during his younger years.
