Gerwyn Price admitted he has been struggling physically and mentally after his Premier League play-off hopes suffered another setback in Leeds.

The former world champion was beaten 6-2 by fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton on Thursday night, leaving his position in the top four under pressure heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Price, 41, has endured a difficult run of form in recent weeks, managing just one win in his last five Premier League appearances.

The Iceman said: “My focus is still there, but things haven’t been ideal for me health-wise lately. I’m just trying to battle through it and find some form again.

“Hopefully over the next couple of weeks things will improve and I can start enjoying darts a bit more again.

“It’s been frustrating, but all I can do is keep going and hope things fall into place.

“I still hope I can make the play-offs, but I’ll probably need a few results to go my way. Hopefully I’ll still be at the O2.”

Price also admitted the weekly Premier League schedule has been difficult during his dip in form.

He added: “It’s tough when you’re only playing once a week because you don’t really get a chance to build momentum.

“But overall the Premier League has been brilliant this year and I’ve enjoyed the season.”

The Caerphilly star reached the Premier League final in 2023 and has qualified for the play-offs in two of the last three seasons.

He also praised the atmosphere throughout this year’s roadshow events, saying the fans have helped carry him through difficult matches.

“The crowd has got me through a lot of games,” Price said. “Sometimes things happen that are out of your control, but the support has been incredible.”
