Webster revealed last week that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, hairy cell leukaemia, but said doctors were optimistic about his recovery.

“Looking forward to being back amongst it. Thanks again for all of the love and support.”

Fans quickly flooded social media with messages of support following the update.

One supporter wrote: “That’s great news, Mark! I hope the recovery continues apace. It takes more than that to beat a Welshman!”

Another added: “Great news, Mark. Looking forward to seeing you and very best wishes for your recovery.”

His fellow Sky Sports colleague Polly James also shared her excitement, posting: “The BEST news! Can’t wait to see ya again on Thursday!”

Webster is expected to return for Night 15 of the Premier League at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Meanwhile, teenage sensation Luke Littler is chasing a fourth consecutive nightly win ahead of Finals Night at London’s The O2 Arena.

Littler endured a slow start to the campaign, with Jonny Clayton opening up an early lead at the top of the table after claiming his fourth nightly victory on Night 11.

However, The Nuke has since rediscovered his best form and once again looks close to unstoppable.
