Darts referee forced to intervene after ‘wonky’ equipment failure during World Series of Darts Finals

A REFEREE had to step in and fix a wonky dartboard during the World Series of Darts Finals.

Popular official Huw Ware was called into action during the quarter-final clash between Josh Rock and Ross Smith after the board suddenly shifted out of position.

The unusual moment happened in the second leg after Rock had thrown all three of his darts. When he went to collect them, he noticed the board had moved.

Rock appeared to ask Ware for help after realising he had accidentally caused the board to shift before Smith could step up to the oche.

The Northern Irishman quickly apologised after discovering that he was actually responsible for the wonky board.

Ware immediately got to work, removing the board’s surrounding border before carefully repositioning the Winmau board.

Smith also helped by keeping an eye on the placement to make sure everything was correctly aligned.

The funny incident quickly caught the attention of darts fans online, with many joking about Rock’s mishap.

One fan wrote: “There is ALWAYS someone you play in pub leagues who does this.”

Another joked: “Maybe Josh needs to stop snatching his darts out of the board.”

A third added: “Just pure precision from the referee.”

After the brief interruption, the match continued, with Smith eventually beating Rock 10-7 to book his place in the semi-finals.
