Luke Littler could face competition from a British television favourite when his new darts show arrives on Netflix later this month.

The 19-year-old world champion is expecting a huge reaction to the programme, titled Beat Luke Littler, which will see 20 amateur players attempt to defeat him for a staggering £501,000 prize.

However, the show’s launch on Friday, October 30, could face a challenge in attracting viewers, with other television entertainment competing for attention that evening.

Hosted by former England footballer Gary Lineker and television presenter Richard Osman, Beat Luke Littler is scheduled to begin at 7pm, as the streaming platform prepares to introduce an ambitious new format to darts fans.

The concept will see 20 amateur players take on Littler individually in a series of single-leg contests.

Each challenger must reduce their score from 501 to zero and finish on a double before the reigning two-time world champion. Anyone who manages to beat him will walk away with the £501,000 jackpot.

However, one successful challenger will bring the entire competition to an end, leaving Littler with no opportunity to recover from defeat.

Despite understanding how life-changing the prize could be for an ordinary darts player, Littler is determined to complete all 20 challenges without losing a single leg.

The teenage star is keen to demonstrate his ability on a different stage while protecting his reputation as one of the sport’s leading players.

Speaking about the upcoming Netflix special, Littler said: “It’s a good opportunity for myself to show what I can do, and it’s a great idea by Netflix. I think people will go absolutely bonkers for it when it’s on.

“If I lose one game, then I’m done. That’s the only difference. However, if I start off well, then it’s going to be very hard for my opponents to get into the game.”

Littler also hopes the programme will introduce darts to a wider audience and encourage more people to follow the sport.

“It’ll bring in a huge audience, and hopefully more people will get into darts because of the show.

“There’s half a million quid up for grabs. I won’t be going easy at all.

“I’ll be wanting to beat everyone who comes up. Maybe the first few legs could be a bit nervy, but once I get going, then I don’t think anyone will stop me.”

With an enormous cash prize at stake and every amateur needing just one winning leg to cause a major upset, the Netflix show promises plenty of drama.

Littler, however, has made his intentions clear: he wants to defeat all 20 challengers and prove that even under the pressure of a live television event, he remains a formidable opponent.
