“It doesn’t change anything”: Anna Kalinskaya says relationship with Jannik Sinner doesn’t add pressure
Anna Kalinskaya returned to the court at the Singapore Tennis Open, getting back to winning ways after her last-minute withdrawal at the Australian Open due to injury. As her boyfriend Jannik Sinner celebrated his second consecutive Australian Open title, Kalinskaya discussed the impact of their relationship on her career and clarified that it brings no additional pressure.
The couple has been in the spotlight since confirming their relationship last year, although they have shifted from sharing more public moments, such as their kiss at the US Open, to keeping a lower profile more recently. Despite rumors of a breakup fueled by their private nature, Kalinskaya emphasized that her relationship with Sinner does not affect her professionally. She reiterated this while speaking at the Singapore Tennis Open, where she praised the tournament’s organization and facilities.
“I’m very excited and very impressed at how good the organization is, and how good the facility is,” she said. “There are not many tournaments indoors, but this seems [like a] very, very good start, and I’m looking forward to it.” When asked about the pressure of dating the top-ranked ATP player, Kalinskaya responded, “Not at all. I don’t think there’s pressure, it doesn’t change anything.”
Sinner had previously echoed similar sentiments in November, stressing that their relationship remains natural and balanced. “I don’t think anything has changed,” Sinner said. “Having a girlfriend is something that either makes you feel good or makes you feel bad. I want it to be something that feels very natural… I can’t afford to change as a player or as a person, and that hasn’t happened, that’s why it works.”
While Kalinskaya was present in Sinner’s box during his US Open run, she kept a lower profile during his recent Australian Open triumph, as she had to travel to Singapore for her own tournament commitments. With important ranking points to defend in Dubai, she is focused on regaining her form and staying on track in her career.
