Andy Murray’s former coach, Mark Petchey, has shared a critical assessment of Emma Raducanu’s recent performances, saying that her style of play has not been to his liking. Petchey, who coached Murray early in his career, spoke candidly about Raducanu’s struggles since her breakthrough win at the 2021 US Open.

“I didn’t really like her tennis,” Petchey said during a discussion about Raducanu’s recent form. “She’s a fantastic talent, but her game seems to have lost some of the sharpness and aggression that made her stand out during her US Open run. There’s been a lot of inconsistency, and she doesn’t seem to be playing with the same confidence.”

Raducanu has faced multiple challenges since her historic Grand Slam victory, including injuries and frequent changes to her coaching team. Petchey noted that while Raducanu has shown flashes of brilliance, her performances in recent months have not been up to the level many expected following her rise to stardom.

“She has so much potential, but I think there’s a need to focus on finding that consistency in her game again. The talent is there, but it needs to come together more cohesively on the court,” Petchey added.

Despite the criticisms, he remains hopeful that Raducanu can regain her form and continue to grow as a player, with the right support and stability in her career moving forward.
