Alex De Minaur’s 2025 Mission: From Breakthrough Star to Grand Slam Contender—Can He Go All the Way?
Alex De Minaur’s Ambition: Breaking Barriers and Aiming Higher in 2025
Breaking into the ATP Top 10 was just the beginning for Alex De Minaur—the Australian star is hungry for more. Following a career-best season in 2024, where he reached three Grand Slam quarterfinals and made his Nitto ATP Finals debut, De Minaur has set his sights even higher for 2025.
As he gears up for the ABN AMRO Open, the 25-year-old made it clear: his best tennis is still ahead of him.
“I Want More”: De Minaur’s Relentless Drive for Success
At just 25 years old, De Minaur has firmly established himself among tennis’ elite, earning a reputation for his relentless baseline play, blistering speed, and unwavering mental toughness. Yet, despite his success last season, the Aussie isn’t satisfied—he’s determined to push his game to new heights.
“I do feel like I’ve taken big steps in the right direction in the last year,” De Minaur shared with reporters in Rotterdam. “I’ve improved as a player. Making the quarters in the last four Slams is something I don’t take lightly, and it’s a great platform to build on. But I want more.”
That “more” could mean deeper Grand Slam runs, a higher ATP ranking, or even a maiden major title. With his ceiling still unknown, De Minaur is eager to prove he’s not just a Top 10 player, but a genuine contender for the sport’s biggest prizes.
“Last year, a lot happened. I was injured for a good part of the season, yet I still managed to achieve some great results. The goal now is to stay healthy and keep building on that momentum. Hopefully, that takes me to bigger and better things—I don’t think I’ve hit my ceiling yet. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to what this year has to offer.”
A New Season—and a New Chapter Off the Court
After a well-earned break at home, where he once again reached the Australian Open quarterfinals, De Minaur is ready to embrace the grueling demands of the tour. But this season, he won’t be doing it alone—his fiancée, WTA star Katie Boulter, will be joining him on the road.
The couple, who got engaged during the offseason, will be spending more time together on tour—a shift De Minaur believes will help him find balance in the demanding world of professional tennis.
“It definitely helps to have Katie with me,” he admitted. “It makes being so far away from home a lot easier. The weeks on tour can feel long, and having her there makes a huge difference.”
Beyond tennis, De Minaur is also prioritizing a more balanced lifestyle, ensuring that off-court moments feel as normal as possible.
“For me, it’s important to do things wherever we are. Go out for dinners, grab a coffee, just try to make life feel as normal as you can. It’s about enjoying the time with the people around you.”
Will 2025 Be Alex De Minaur’s Breakthrough Year?
De Minaur has already proven he belongs among the best—but now, it’s about taking the next step: winning the biggest matches and turning deep runs into Grand Slam breakthroughs.
With a new mindset, renewed energy, and an ironclad work ethic, the Aussie could be on the verge of something special.
