Following a hard-fought first-round win at the 2025 Qatar Open, Paula Badosa has etched her name into the history books alongside some of Spain’s greatest WTA players.
The former World No. 2 secured a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Mexico’s Renata Zarazua, advancing to the second round in Doha. Up next, she faces Amanda Anisimova, who stunned two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka in her opening match.

This milestone comes after a difficult two-year period in which Badosa struggled with injuries and limited appearances on tour. However, she appears to be rediscovering her best form, highlighted by her semifinal run at the 2025 Australian Open, where she defeated Coco Gauff before falling to defending champion Aryna Sabalenka.
