Another fan called her “overrated and arrogant,” suggesting the loss served as a reality check:

“Tough reality feedback for overrated and arrogant Gauff.”

Some fans went even further, harshly critiquing her game and mental toughness:

“Coco Gauff … 🤦‍♀️ what an absolute disaster of mental weakness!! Nothing, nothing to show… the serve DISASTER, forehand DISASTER, backhand DISASTER… mentally completely and absolutely NOTHING!!”

“Coco ranking – Top 10. Mental toughness – Zero.”

“Gauff is so trash and stupid. Being a top player and can’t serve is something 🤣🤣🤣.”

Despite the negativity, Gauff remains one of the most promising young talents on the WTA Tour and will look to bounce back in upcoming tournaments.

Marta Kostyuk’s Next Opponent

After eliminating Gauff, Marta Kostyuk moves on to face either Magda Linette or Magdalena Frech in the Qatar Open third round.

  • Linette opened her campaign with a comeback win over Veronika Kudermetova (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) and will face Frech in the second round.
  • Frech pulled off an upset in her opener, defeating 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).

Kostyuk has a 1-0 head-to-head record against Linette and a 2-0 record against Frech, making her the favorite heading into the next round.

With her confidence high after defeating Gauff, Kostyuk will look to continue her strong run in Doha.
