Katie Boulter’s Heartfelt Tribute to Alex de Minaur on His 26th Birthday

Distance means little when someone means so much. Despite being miles apart, Katie Boulter found a way to celebrate Alex de Minaur’s 26th birthday while he competed at the Qatar Open in Doha. Though they couldn’t spend the day together, the British No.1 penned a touching tribute alongside a series of cherished photos.

This isn’t the first time Boulter has gone the extra mile to make de Minaur’s birthday special. Last year, she shared a humorous video of him celebrating his 25th birthday at a restaurant with family, where the entire venue erupted into a joyous rendition of Happy Birthday. This time, her tribute was just as sweet.

A Love That Continues to Blossom

The couple, who have been together since March 2020, announced their engagement on December 23, 2023, receiving an outpouring of congratulations from fellow players and fans. Boulter marked de Minaur’s birthday by sharing a series of photos on Instagram, capturing special moments of them watching sunsets, enjoying a boat ride, vacationing together, and sharing an affectionate kiss.

She captioned the post:
“Celebrating you today and every day 😌🫰🏼🎂🎈🎉.”

De Minaur responded by posting a picture of himself holding a birthday cake, writing:
“26 in Doha 🇶🇦🙌🙏 Getting older but not wiser 😂😂 Thanks for all the birthday wishes ❤️😈.”

Through ups and downs, their relationship has remained strong. Even after de Minaur’s quarter-final loss at the ABN AMRO Open in 2023, Boulter ensured his birthday wasn’t spoiled, sharing a few photos with the caption:
“Older but no wiser. Happy birthday guapo (handsome).”

The couple also faced a tough campaign at the Paris Olympics, but that didn’t stop de Minaur from celebrating Boulter’s birthday. He posted a heartfelt Instagram story, writing:
“Happy Birthday. Keep shining bright. Wish I could be there with you.”

Navigating Love and the Tour Life

Balancing a relationship in the world of professional tennis isn’t easy, as both spend much of the year traveling and competing. But how did their love story begin?

In an interview with The Age, Boulter revealed that they first met at six in the morning and ended up grabbing a coffee together. That moment, she said, made her realize she was in it for the long haul.

Boulter, who has always admired her grandfather’s loving nature, once shared that she wanted to find someone with “half his heart”—and she found that in de Minaur.

“He puts me before himself all the time and takes care of the people around him—his family and his team. He’s my best example of what I want to be,” Boulter said.

However, things didn’t start smoothly for de Minaur. He once confessed that Boulter initially rejected his first request for a date, but his persistence paid off. Now, their bond is stronger than ever.

“She’s given me a different perspective on handling results. Thanks to her, I’ve learned to deal with losses better,” de Minaur shared.
“I knew this was something special when I found myself wanting to talk to her all the time. Her companionship was something I’d been looking for—it gave me a sense of peace.”

Even Boulter agrees: “We’ve helped each other in so many ways.”

Their unwavering support for one another has captivated fans, earning them the ATP Socials ‘Couple Goals’ award in November.
