Alexander Zverev has sent a clear message to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz—he’s determined to break their dominance and claim both Grand Slam titles and the top spot in the ATP rankings.

Since the start of 2024, the 27-year-old German has reached two Major finals. However, he remains in search of his first Grand Slam title, with the last five Majors being won exclusively by either Sinner or Alcaraz.

Zverev came agonizingly close at the 2024 French Open, falling to Alcaraz in a five-set thriller. Earlier this year, his Grand Slam frustrations continued as he suffered a straight-sets defeat to Sinner in the Australian Open final.

Last week, it was revealed that world No. 1 Sinner received a three-month doping ban. While the Italian will still be eligible to compete at the French Open, his hold on the top ranking is in jeopardy. Currently ranked world No. 2 and trailing by 3,195 points, Zverev has a golden opportunity to ascend to No. 1 for the first time in his career.

Zverev: “I Want to Challenge Sinner and Alcaraz”

“My goal is to compete with Jannik and Carlos for the biggest titles and for the world No. 1,” Zverev stated in Rio de Janeiro, via Jose Morgado. “There are some things that they do better than me, so I need to improve on those.”

As the season unfolds, Zverev’s pursuit of Grand Slam success and the ATP’s top ranking is set to be one of the biggest storylines in men’s tennis.
