Emma Raducanu’s Coach Reveals Disturbing Details About Stalker Incident in Dubai

Emma Raducanu’s coaching team member, Roman Kelecic, has shed light on the terrifying stalker ordeal that deeply unsettled the British star during her match at the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships. He revealed that Raducanu panicked and pleaded for help after spotting the man in the stands during her second-round match against Karolina Muchova.

At one point during the match, Raducanu—visibly distressed—hid behind the umpire’s chair and broke down in tears. It was later confirmed that her fear stemmed from a persistent stalker, who had followed her across multiple tournaments.

Kelecic revealed that the man had been tracking Raducanu’s movements since the Singapore Open, and later followed her to Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Dubai.

Raducanu Alerted Her Team in Panic

Speaking to Net.hr, Kelecic shared how Raducanu spotted the stalker herself and immediately raised the alarm, despite a police report already being filed against him.

“We filed a police report and were confident that the matter would be closed shortly. But as it turned out, it was far from over. Before the match between Emma and Karolina Muchova, we all had a photo of the stalker, including the security staff. After the first two points, Emma gestured to say something,” he recalled.

At the time, Kelecic and the coaching team were unaware of what was happening. However, the situation quickly escalated.

“After losing the first game, Emma ran to us and started shouting, ‘He’s here, he’s here!’ Just a few moments later, she burst into tears and completely collapsed. Tennis immediately took a backseat—the priority was getting security to remove him as quickly as possible. We never imagined this person would cause so many problems.”

Kelecic Praises Raducanu’s Mental Strength

Despite enduring a terrifying experience, Raducanu finished the match, an act Kelecic described as a testament to her resilience.

“Kudos to Emma for having the psychological strength to finish the fight. She’s incredibly strong but also very vulnerable. I hope she takes all the time she needs to process what happened. It’s all worrying and frightening at the same time,” he said.

Kelecic, who rejoined Raducanu’s team in Abu Dhabi, also expressed frustration with security measures at tournaments, stating:

“This simply shouldn’t be happening, especially at such a high level. The security team failed completely—I just hope everything calms down soon.”

Raducanu Chooses Not to Press Charges

Reports suggest that Raducanu has dropped the charges against the man but has taken steps to ensure her safety. The individual has been required to sign a formal undertaking pledging to keep his distance from her.

With the unsettling ordeal behind her, Raducanu now looks to regain focus as she continues her 2025 season.
