WATCH: Emma Raducanu breaks down in tears, emotionally reunites with her father as she arrives in London after stalker scare in Dubai
Emma Raducanu Returns Home to London in Tears After Stalker Ordeal in Dubai
Emma Raducanu has returned home to London following the terrifying stalker incident that unfolded during the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships. The 22-year-old, still visibly shaken by the ordeal, shared an emotional reunion with her father Ion Raducanu at Heathrow Airport.
Raducanu’s campaign in Dubai ended in the second round after a 7-6(6), 6-4 loss to Karolina Muchova. However, the match was overshadowed by a disturbing scene—Raducanu broke down in tears, hid behind the umpire’s chair, and appeared to have a panic attack while security removed a man from the stands.
The WTA later confirmed that the individual had displayed “fixated behavior” toward Raducanu, even approaching her a day before the match. In response, the governing body announced a ban preventing the man from attending any tour-level events to ensure the 22-year-old’s safety.
Raducanu Overcome with Emotion Upon Returning Home
Although Raducanu has now returned to London, her homecoming was anything but joyful. The former US Open champion was seen in tears at Heathrow Airport, visibly emotional as she reunited with her father. The harrowing experience has clearly left a lasting impact on the young star.
Coach Reveals ‘Frightening’ Details About Stalker’s Behavior
Raducanu’s distress is unsurprising, given the details revealed by her coaching team member, Roman Kelecic. The Croatian coach disclosed that the stalker had been following Raducanu since the Singapore Open, later tracking her to Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Dubai.
Kelecic also recounted a particularly disturbing encounter in which the man became physically intrusive toward Raducanu at a restaurant near the tournament venue.
“He approached her, started obsessively hugging her, taking pictures with her, and simply wouldn’t leave her alone. Emma called me in a great panic for help. It was the only moment during the tournament when none of us from the team was with her,” he told Net.hr.
What disturbed Kelecic the most was the meticulous planning behind the man’s actions.
“The most frightening thing about all of this is that he was clearly monitoring her movements the whole time. He had a plan for when and how he would try to get to her.”
Raducanu Set to Return at Indian Wells
After taking time to recover at home with her family, Raducanu is expected to move forward from the ordeal. Her next tournament will be the Indian Wells Open, which begins on March 5.
Despite the distressing experience, the former Grand Slam champion will look to regain her focus and continue her comeback on the WTA Tour.
