Alex de Minaur Dominates Hurkacz to Secure 50th Masters 1000 Victory

Alex de Minaur reached a significant milestone at the BNP Paribas Open on Monday, notching his 50th ATP Masters 1000 victory with a commanding 6-4, 6-0 win over Hubert Hurkacz. The ninth seed needed just 75 minutes to dispatch his opponent, delivering a ruthless performance to book his spot in the Indian Wells fourth round.

De Minaur’s Clinical Display

The Australian was in top form, converting all four of his break points while saving the only one he faced. According to Infosys ATP Stats, his efficiency on both offense and defense left Hurkacz with little opportunity to respond.

With this victory, De Minaur now leads Hurkacz 2-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series, marking their first meeting since 2019.

Chasing a New Milestone in Indian Wells

Despite a finals run in Toronto last year, De Minaur has never progressed beyond the fourth round at Indian Wells. The world No. 10 will now look to change that when he takes on Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated Botic van de Zandschulp—the player who eliminated Novak Djokovic earlier in the tournament—6-3, 6-4.

Strong Start to 2025

De Minaur has carried his early-season momentum into the Masters 1000 circuit. His year has already featured a first-ever Australian Open quarter-final and a runner-up finish at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam.

Impressively, he holds a 15-1 record against players outside the Top 20 in 2025, further solidifying his status as one of the tour’s most consistent and dangerous competitors.
