Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 9 seed, advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros by edging out German Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-4 in Paris on Wednesday.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 9, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang next.
This is the sixth year in a row that the Greek has reached the third round in Paris – with his best showing being a runner-up finish in 2021.
Ahead of his win today, the Greek defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-1).

Altmaier, ranked No 83, won against Serb Laslo Djere (7-5, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 5-7, 7-6 (6)) in the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024.
